They would always say that one’s fate always rely on how the individual work on it. That’s true. Making major personal decision is still critical in crafting the path he/she would want to choose despite various structural forces that can affect this decision.
The mindset on how you will handle your current situation is important. It will determine how you will go to your next plan and step. In my situation, this is what I need to look at. I personally call it career lag. It is the time when someone who graduated and then fails to pursue his own career or maybe can’t decide what to do next. But, it doesn’t only bother our newly graduates, it also haunts students graduated 5 years ago. They might ask themselves what happen five years of being graduated, and employed in a company or organization.
Some may continue pursuing graduate studies. It will help them to secure financially, and find a permanent job either in the academe or any field of corporate industry.
How about those people who is still looking for their own career? To me, it is not a question of “soul searching” or “identity crisis” phenomena. It is more of a career oriented problem. Indecision among the youth is one of the causing challenges of unemployment. I don’t have the data right now to support this claim, but job mismatch still prevails as one of the pressing concerns in the issue of unemployment and underemployment.
At this point, the individual must decide what career he/she really wants to pursue. If there are still different factors that he/she considers, then the problem starts to mess the mind. There are different ways to conquer this issue. I don’t consider it also a problem, but also part of the solution. Having an indecision mind means you are deciding. Since you consider a million of venues for your career, they jumbled in your mind.
As I learned from research, using matrix might probably help you focus on looking these millions of venues. You are lucky. Because you are thinking different plans for yourself, compare to others who stocked in their desk all day long, but never really love what they are doing.
Learn to take risk. Never hesitate to enter new ventures, as long as, it will not cost you badly. Learn to jot down when you are talking with people. Learn how to listen. Accept your shortcoming, but don’t deal with it too much. Don’t quit.
